             abstract = "In the last decades it has been observed environmental alteration 
                         due to variations in the flooded regime, with consequences in the 
                         economy of the some areas in the Pantanal. An evaluation of this 
                         alteration was made on the floodplain of the Taquari river bass 
                         course, Mato Grosso do Sul State, Brazil, in an area quantified in 
                         11.149,55 km2. In this work are presented the vegetation covering 
                         changes happened in the last three decades. The information were 
                         extracted from the pancromatic aerial photos of 1966 and of 
                         Landsat-TM satellite images of 1995. The resultings vegetation 
                         maps of the interpretation were generated in the scale of 
                         1:100.000. The changes are discussed in function of the annual and 
                         pluriannual variations of the precipitation and discharge and 
                         water level height of the main rivers.",
